Fall 2024

—From the Editors

Our Fall 2024 issue of v.1 was created in reverse. Historically, a theme that unites the issue will present itself after parsing through our contents list and putting all the pieces together. This year, we began with the theme. We started the year by asking, what do we see out our windows? The past few months presented monumental waves of change, of shifting scenery, of altered social and physical landscapes. It feels like we are constantly looking, but as we observe, what aren’t we seeing? What do we want to see that isn’t there? Perhaps it isn’t there yet, or won’t ever be, but we can always hope, imagine, and maybe even transform.

In community with the visionary contributors to this issue, the v.1 staff wants to see:

Sako Antonyan: a flying pig
Nino Chambers: everything as it should be
Henry Ding: when fish grew scales
Sarah Feng: sweet juicy mangoes
Katherine Fu: through eyes unclouded by hate
Kobe Jackson: more public bathrooms
David LeGrand: a salmon with a winter coat
Nadine Macapagal: the last gingko leaf fall
Lucy Pham: ☻ ❊ ❋ ✣ ✤ ✿ ౨ৎ ꩜
Angelina Rodgers: the secrets of the universe
Mina Troise: horsies
Arete Xu: an endless summer
