I have stories I’ve been afraid to tell.
We all do. I have art I’m not brave enough to make. I barely have time to live outside of studios. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I found other people who felt the same way. Folks who want to control what we get to make, and to exist beyond the studio. We want to share not just the work, but the process of making it. So we founded the RISD Sequential Arts Club, or RSAC!
We are a new experimental club dedicated to making sequential art; any work that unfolds through sequence including but not limited to-
Print: zines, comics, & manga
Film: animation, storyboards, animatics, & short films
In an environment where we have to keep producing high-stakes, academic work, sequential arts give us the freedom to keep MAKING what matters to us. At the end of the day, it’s all about stories. The ones that happen day-to-day, and the ones we create with pen and paper. We make them happen together.
RSAC is a self-directed space. Members propose the work they want to make — experimental, narrative, or abstract — within a semester, and the club provides structure, guidance, and support. You can explore medium and meaning freely. The only person you do this for is yourself. This spring, we met on Sundays from 12:30 – 3:00 PM. You may work on a solo project or work in a team. No matter the stage of creation, you can always turn to a friend to provide feedback or ask them to help out! At RSAC, we encourage members to think about publication not only as output, but as a process and a shared experience.

updates. RSAC is a place to explore publishing as freedom. It’s a place where you can make art on your own terms, with structure but without constraint. Most importantly, it’s a place where you find community, where we can discover our own stories together.
